A SOURCE FOR HOME SAFETY…

If you live in a home, condo, apartment and are looking for safety information, one source is www.homesafetycouncil.org.
There are several topics that may apply to you and your family. One of the cool things is to customize a safety plan based on your family and your home features and amenities. Go to www.homesafetycouncil.org and Entire Family at the left side of the web page, and click on Personalized Safety Checklist and enter your answers.
An example is attached with the seven items: 1) one-level, free-standing home; 2) no infant 0-12 months is living in home; 3) children ages 1-6 years old live in the home or frequently visit the home; 4) no adults living in the home over the age of 65; 5) home has an attached garage; 6) home has a fuel-burning appliances, such as a furnace, wood stove, space heater or fireplace; 7) home or apartment has a pool or an outside sauna, whirlpool or jacuzzi. Create your checklist. On a separate screen, the checklist will open and you can print it.

In the Home Safety Council website several topics under safety guide include: top safety tips, falls prevention, poison prevention, fire and burn safety, choking and suffocation prevention, water safety, disaster preparedness, baby and toddler safety, child safety, safe seniors, seasonal safety, and safety room by room.
